E-CITY further expands with its 5th outlet at Mirdiff City Centre
Business expansion plans on course with 5 more multi-brand electronic stores slated to open in UAE by 2013
Dubai, UAE, December ##th, 2012: E-City, one of UAE's leading electronics retailers, has further consolidated its presence by opening its 5th electronics megastore at Mirdiff-City-Centre. This outlet is second of the seven stores scheduled to be opened during 2013. E-City's 5th outlet is located in one of the most premium malls with one of the highest footfalls in the country. The other four are located in Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Sharjah City Centre Mall and Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi. E-City, the region's first technology convenience retail chain is part of the country's leading conglomerate - the Al Batha Group.
As per a recent study by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai's trade in consumer electronics has grown from an estimated Dh24 billion in 2002 to Dh113 billion in 2011 while last year the emirate exported consumer electronics valued at approximately Dh48 billion which came from imports of Dh65 billion.

According to Business Monitor International (BMI), computer sales in the UAE are expected to touch Dh13.8 billion by end of this year. On the other hand Audio Visual and Gaming sales were forecast to touch Dh4.9 billion in 2012. Sales of new flat-screen TVs are seen as the main driver of growth for this category. Handset sales, meanwhile, are anticipated to increase the most to Dh1.7 billion by end of 2012 – an increase of approximately 13 per cent over the year.
